This is an easy walk, almost completely down hill. With a colectivo or private transport you go to the pass of Portachuelo via the destroyed city of Yungay. From there you can see the peaks of Huascarán, Chacraraju, Chopicalqui, Pisco and Huandoy. You walk down into the valley of Llanganuco to the lakes. From the lakes it's possible to follow the Maria Josefa trail down to the road to Yungay.
